cast // mild spoilers, marked where it matters
Characters
A cast of six or seven people, depending on how you count the ones who come back.
Names, designations and what each of them is actually after.
The two at the centre
LSTR-512 · Replika
Elster
MagpieKosmo-Pioneer
Generation 5 ship technician and the character you control. LSTR stands for
Landvermessungs-/Schiff-Techniker Replika — land survey and ship technician. Built for the Penrose
programme because the units are adaptable and survive badly isolated conditions; in practice that means
combat engineer, repair tech and the only person still walking.
178 cm. Blue eyes. Wakes up in a crashed shuttle with a promise she cannot fully recall.
Gestalt · Pilot, Penrose-512
Ariane Yeong
Radio officerRotfront
Born on Leng, raised on Rotfront by her mother Iris Yeong, a radio officer stationed at
Rotfront Interplanetar Station 06. Drawn to art, mostly painting, in a world that had little use for it.
Assigned as pilot of the Penrose-512 — the kind of posting the Nation hands out quietly.
Red eyes. Personal record key YNGARN-L-5921D. The person Elster is really looking for.
On the way down
Gestalt · Vineta
Isolde “Isa” Itou
Shop assistantSearching
From Vineta, grew up in Rotfront Block Sector C, worked in her parents' bookshop. She is in the facility for
the same reason Elster is anywhere: looking for someone. In her case, her twin sister Erika — and she does not
take direction well.
Green eyes. Personal record key ITISLD-V-560524.
Gestalt · Vineta
Erika Itou
StudentMissing
Isa's twin, a university student. She once interrupted a group of bullies in the library to defend a girl —
a small kindness that the game keeps returning to, and that Isa still resents being on the outside of.
Personal record key ITERIK-V-560524.
Gestalt · S-23 worker
Alina Seo
Vinetan War veteranUnreliable
A worker at Sierpinski S-23 and a war veteran. She is the face on Elster's photograph for the first half of
the game, which is exactly the problem: whether Alina is a separate person, a borrowed memory, or something the
facility is using to keep Elster walking is the most argued-about question in the fandom.
Protektor and command
ADLR · Generation 5
Adler
High commandAdministrator
Administration-, Datenverarbeitung-, Logistik-Replika — administration, data processing, logistics.
A Protektor Führungskommando administrator unit. The one who meets Elster at the red gate and tells her,
plainly, what crossing it did to Falke.
FKLR · Generation 6
Falke
BioresonanceFacility commander
Führungskommando-Leiteinheit-Replika — high-tech bioresonance command unit, and the commander of the
Protektor security forces in AEON facilities. Every facility has one. S-23's went through the gate before
Elster did, and came back wrong: “she saw something that made her fall sick”.
KLBR · Generation 6
Kolibri
BioresonanceElite Protektor
Kommando-Leiteinheit Bioresonanztechnik-Replika — commando control unit. Uses bioresonance to hold a
squad together and keep its members mentally stable. Reads as the friendliest voice in the building, which is
not the same thing as safe.
Naming
Every Replika designation is a German bird: Elster (magpie), Adler (eagle), Falke (falcon), Kolibri (hummingbird),
Eule (owl), Star (starling), Storch (stork), Mynah, Ara (macaw), Kranich (crane). Full breakdown, with generations
and roles, is on the Replika registry page.
